It will be taking place at the Off Interarts studio and will feature pairings of female vocalists with Kalmunity pianists in a very intimate duo setup. This will mark the first time I perform in a such a setting, and the first time my piano-playing will be featured in an up-front manner. I am also very lucky to be paired with two outstanding vocalists, Kim Zombik and Queen Odessa Thornhill, and I think we have some really great material to present.

Friday, December 10th, 2010, doors @8pmIntimate Sky Vol. 18 - Peace Money/Double Trouble3680, Jeanne-Mance StreetMontréal, Québec H2X 2K5, Canada$12--
The next edition of Jason Blackbird Selman's Intimate Sky series, this time featuring the male vocalists of Kalmunity with 2 musicians of the same instrument (i.e.: 2 pianos, 2 guitars, 2 horns).
I have the great pleasure of performing on saxophone alongside Jason Blackbird Selman on trumpet, accompanying Jahnice+.
Here's some more info, from Jason:
Intimate Sky Chapter 18: Double Trouble a/k/a Peace Money
For the next edition of Intimate Sky, we will be doing something we have never done before. The show will feature trios that not only include one of many powerful male voices from Kalm Unity but also two musicians with the same instrument. This means that combos that showcase a singer, poet, or MC, will also have at their disposal two guitars, drum kits, basses, pianos or horns. We will have two of everything. Hence "Double Trouble". We are very excited about this new experiment in music and hope that you will be there to experience what promises to be a spectacular event.
What is Intimate Sky Anyway?
Intimate Sky is a showcase for the infinite talents of the Kalm Unity Vibe Collective. With each edition artists are selected and put into groups (duos, trio, etc) featuring both vocalists and musicians and asked to perform 10 to 15 minute sets. They are asked to challenge themselves. They are asked to BRING IT! Every fourth Intimate Sky we have a Sound Clash with our extended family Nomadic Massive. Every Intimate Sky is different and special just like everything else Kalm Unity does. In short Intimate Sky is a very intense emotional journey. When was the last time you went to a show and had that type of experience? Besides on a Tuesday at Consulat ... Here's your chance.

Rapping in English, French, Creole, Spanish and Arabic, Nomadic Massive makes itself heard across borders and amongst cultures. Enthusiastic audiences and critics are all ears. Messengers of universal understanding and whistle-blowers of social injustice, the collective of independent hip-hop artists released Nomad's Land in 2006. Three years later, they followed up with a self-titled album, which was recorded in Montreal and Havana. Along the way, the self-described "family" has played with K'naan and opened for Wyclef Jean in 2008.
I have the pleasure of sharing two nights (July 1st & July 3rd) on stage with Nomadic. Free admission, the party starts every night at midnight!
